What if we could experience God all the time?

I have a thought, which was given to me from someone I look up to, that I have been chewing on for awhile.

For our relationship with God to grow, we must be involved in prayer, or keeping the sabbath, or bibles studies, or discussions, or fellowship, or whatever. What if we could pull ourselves out of these "instances" and grow with God constantly? What if spending time with God included taking him out to lunch or going on walks with him? As weird as this sounds, think about it. In the old testament, Moses conversed directly with God. What if we could eliminate these distractions that hinder our complete desire for God. To take away the things that wash away the fire that burns within us for our God.

One of these things being, religion. In no way am I attempting to pick a fight or spite anyone. I only see these rules and legalistic guidelines as something that will ultimately divert our attention from God and our reliance upon him, to the thought of our own self-righteousness and pride. Granted the law helps us see why the heck God came down to save us in the first place, in the way that we cannot fulfill it. God humbles us that way. So why can't we drop our pride, and realize that only in full trust and submission to God can we ever get as close as we want to be in this relationship.

For the glory...

I LOVE CALCULUS SOOOO MUCH!

I'm kidding. But seriously read this:

"It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small-minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on."

Galatians 5:19-21, THE MESSAGE

One of the ways Donald Miller, author of Blue Like Jazz, tries to explain what Jesus is trying to say:

Look, you guys are running around like monkeys trying to get people to clap, but people are fallen, they are separated from God, so they have no idea what is good or bad, worthy to be judged or set free, beautiful or ugly to begin with. Why not get your glory from God? Why not accept your feelings of redemption because of His pleasure in you, not the fickle and empty favor of man? And only then will you know who you are, and only then will you have true, uninhibited relationships with others.

Just think about it with an open mind for awhile. The Gospel of Jesus is love. Isn't that what all of us truly desire?

Wow.

Colorado was amazing. Nothing compares to it...except for heaven probably. But I think heaven will be just like Colorado without icy roads and drunk college kids.

The mountains are so...humbling.
